Signing up to help with a need
Open any need on the Care tab and tap to sign up. You'll see how many spots are filled and how many remain — a need marked "Filled" has no room left even if the minimum was already met. You can withdraw later from the same screen or from My Commitments; the need's creator is notified either way.
